Ray VanHorn, Commodore
Fall on the Bay is Scimitar's
favorite time. Stronger winds and cooler temperatures allow for sailing to
events rather than motoring and cooler evenings make for better
sleeping.
This year's Octoberfest captained by Joan and Wayne Savage was
a highlight of the season. Great food, music and beer! Good attendance.
Delicious hors d'oeuvres - and yes, the weather was good as well.
As we
bring our year to a close, we draw your attention to the following important
activities:1) Our last raft up of the year is October 25-26 at Purdy Point, 2)
followed by our Business meeting November 16 and 3) the annual Christmas Party
December 14.
Our business meeting will feature a speaker, review of
raft-ups and Election of Officers. Any member who may be interested in serving
as an officer or event captain in 2004 should contact Mike
Davis.
Although weather challenged most of our activities this year, we
still enjoyed a full season of sailing. The final challenge was Isabel and I am
pleased to relay that at last report our fleet is intact.
I thank you
for the opportunity to serve you this year and am really pleased with the 13
new members who joined our fleet this year.
Good Sailing!

Walt and Sue Dennison, Foxfire
The last cruise and raft-up of
the season has come too soon, so join us to recap the year.
Our
destination will be Purdy Point at the top of Gibson Island, off the Magothy
River. The entrance to the Magothy is almost due west of the Baltimore Light,
and it is marked by a green beacon on a large set of wooden pilings. Navigate
through the channel into the river, and once inside the river past green can
"5" turn to starboard. Head roughly northward, keeping the western side of
Gibson Island to starboard and Dutchman's Island (where the party boats will
be) to your port. At the top of Gibson Island, follow green "3" and red "4"
through the Magothy Narrows past Holland Point on your starboard side. The next
point to starboard is Purdy Point. We will throw the hook over off Purdy Point
before reaching the Gibson Island Yacht Club. We look forward to seeing you
there!

I live in the Annapolis area, and I have a 1976 Catalina 22 in decent
condition, with 4 excellent sails (main, working jib, genoa, and storm jib). It
also has a 6hp, johnson engine in good running condition and an almost new
trailer with a double axle and 4 new tires.
I recently had an addition
to the family, and between work and home I have no time left over for this
little boat. I have not had much luck at a sales yard recently, and I am at the
point where I would like to give the boat away for free, and hopefully I can
sell the motor and trailer together for $750.00. I just bought the boat 2 years
ago for 2200.00, and it ought to be a good little boat for someone to learn the
ropes.
Please let me know if you know anyone that may be
interested.
