Pete Bruzik, Commodore CCYC Rendezvous' Rejuvenate! Come one and all! It's the middle of the season so let's mark those calendars with CCYC events. After all, having a destination and knowing that there is a party waiting is motivating! Come by land or sea for the East Coast Catalina rendezvous in Baltimore on July 28 – 30th, There are a number of CCYC boats that will be there. Check the web site for details! We have a large active membership and as a result we are seeing new faces show up, but there is always room for more fun loving Catalina sailors. I wonder how many we can recruit at the Baltimore event! We really are at the mid point of the season (also the hottest!) when sticky buns are on the menu (I'm not talking about the breakfast treat!). How do most people cope with the Chesapeake summer heat? On those IMPOSSIBLE days Kathy and I will stay in our marina with the a/c on and socialize with our dock mates – we still have fun BECAUSE we are not home where we would get distracted from our relaxing and start a project. At the mid point of the year I would like to say a big THANKS to the CCYC board and single out Mike Davis (Webmaster) in particular- Let's give him a raise by adding another zero to the paycheck. Thanks Mike for all you do! Really looking forward to seeing all of you "Out There!" real soon. |

The 2006 Catalina Yachts' East Coast Rendezvous is Friday, July 28 through Sunday, July 30 at Rash Field at the Inner Harbor, Baltimore. All the details are available at Catalina Yachts' website (link available through our website's schedule page). Although this is not just a CCYC event, Dave and Lois Zonderman (C400 Walkabout) are offering to have a Happy Hour on Walkabout Friday at 4:00 PM. Dave and Lois will provide wine and if everyone brings something small in the way of hors d'oeuves (we don't want to overeat before the barbeque) that should work out nicely. |

![]() Crab Feast and Raft-up August 12-13 Cheshire Crab, Bodkin Creek |
||
|
Jim and Susanne Bergeron, Quebecois We have reservations at The Cheshire Crab Restaurant at Pleasure Cove Marina on Bodkin Creek for August 12th. We can have an unlimited crab feast at $29.95/head, which includes corn on the cob, crab soup and unlimited crabs or we can each order what we want, at $40-65-105 per dozen. We can decide when we get there what we want to do, but we need a head count by Wednesday, August 9th. Please contact Jim and Suzanne at RaftCaptain@SailCCYC.org or 410.666.0918. The restaurant will have a room for us but if it's nice outside, we can sit on the deck. We plan to form the raft-up in Jubb Cove on Main Creek and will be monitoring VHF Ch 72. The restaurant has a water taxi that will transport us for free. Quebecois will arrive by 3:00PM to stake out the raft anchorage, and we'll put the larger boats in between as they arrive. We will move to the restaurant by 6:00PM. If you plan to come by car, plan to arrive at 6:00PM. Quebecois has anchored in Jubb Cove and the anchorage was not too crowded. There is good depth, no sea nettles and clean water for swimming. |

Bob Klimek, Vice Commodore This month's article is from Dan and Martha Bliss (C400 Brunelle): We have found that sleeping in the aft cabin on our C400 can be a bit stuffy because the breeze that comes in the forward hatches seems to exit through the companionway instead of out through the hatches under the cockpit seats. To rectify the situation, I cut a piece of Sunbrella that fit the companionway opening (with the hatch pulled closed) plus enough length to wrap the top edge around a piece of wood (1" X 3" X hatch width) and to make a pocket at the bottom to insert a wooden dowel. I hemmed the side edges of the Sunbrella and screwed the top edge to the board (after wrapping the cloth completely around the wood. We find that it works to divert the air back through our cabin, plus it helps keep warmth in during cold weather. It is much easier to use than putting the boards in, and allows us to go up on deck quickly, if need be. |
