Mike Davis, Chantilly Lass
The
lunch at Cantler's and subsequent raft-up in Mill Creek was a great time. It
was another great turnout as six boats gathered at the pier or anchored in the
creek and everyone got together for lunch. Ray & Carolyn Nieves, Classie
Chassie; Gene Cyprych, Cool Change; Jinx Springfield and Linda, Iris; Gerry
& Jeanne Helldorfer, Looking Glass; Pete & Karen Denholm & Chet
& Peg Szymczak, Scimitar; Joan, Wayne & Chad (Wayne's son) Savage,
Second Wind; and Al & Shirley Willcox, by land, joined Paul & Sharon
Payne, Bev, Diana & me, Chantilly Lass. After many steamed crabs and crab
cakes, we followed the lunch with birthday cake, in honor of Diana's 9th
birthday.
After lunch, Gerry & Jeanne Helldorfer took Looking Glass
up the creek and selected a spot as the anchor boat. Second Wind, Scimitar and
Chantilly Lass joined them as Classie Chassie, Cool Change and Iris formed a
second raft. Even though stuffed from the lunch, everyone gathered for hors
d'oeuvres and drinks aboard Chantilly Lass. Gene came in his one-man kayak.
Chad decided to give it a try and paddled all around us. As it was hard work,
Chad decided to go for a swim. At least we think that was it; surely he didn't
capsize. After he returned to the raft, Joan Savage and Pete Denholm gave the
kayak a try but took a pass on the swim.
