- Dough
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 cup of sugar
- 1 cup flour
- Filling
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- Topping
- 4 cups of sliced apples
- 1/3 cup of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds

- Mix the ingredients for the dough.
- Flour hands & spread dough into bottom & half inch up the sides of a 9" spring pan.
- Thoroughly mix the filling ingredients & pour into the pastry shell.
- Shake apples, sugar & cinnamon in a plastic bag & gently pour into the filling.
- Cover the apples with the sliced almonds.
- Start to bake in a 450 degree oven for 10 minutes. Rack in the center position. Reduce the temperature to 400 & continue to bake for 25 more minutes. Watch to insure the almonds do not burn.
- Loosen torte from rim of the pan while still warm. Do not remove the ring until cool.
